Arizona won national recognition this week from two solar organizations for its jobs in the industry and the efforts of large state institutions to tap into the sun’s power. The Washington, D.C.-based Solar Foundation ranked Arizona third in the nation for its estimated solar workforce of 4,800 in the organization’s annual solar-job census. California ranked No. 1, and Colorado, No. 2.
Separately, the Solar Electric Power Association gave Salt River Project and Tucson Electric Power Co. awards for solar innovation and gave Arizona State University an award for its commitment to solar through its work with Arizona Public Service Co. The Solar Electric Power Association is a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit that helps utilities use solar power.
